Determination of vaginal secretion group

Determining a group of vaginal secretions greatly helps in diagnosing the condition and disease. See what groups exist and what their characteristics are. In practice, the purity of the vagina is expressed from the first to the sixth group or grade (I to VI).

The first and second vaginal secretions

Each woman should visit her gynecologist before the planned pregnancy and have a vaginal secretion checked. The first group (I) is mainly found in girls, while the second group (II) is considered a normal finding in sexually active adult women. Normal vaginal secretion is odorless, translucent, whitish and homogeneous. Examination of vaginal secretions identifies the causes of colpitis, that is, inflammation of the mucous membrane of the vagina. The first and second groups are normal findings and do not require any therapy.

The third group of vaginal secretions

The third group of vaginal secretions (III) deals with a wider range of infectious agents such as streptococci, staphylococci, colic bacilli ... There is usually a clear symptomatology in the form of abundant yellowish or whitish secretion, which requires treatment. In order to determine with certainty what kind of microorganisms it is, it is best to perform a vaginal and cervical swab. The causes of the third group of vaginal secretions are usually microorganisms that represent the physiological flora of the vagina, but in certain conditions their concentration increases, which gives a clinically manifest infection in the form of the already mentioned abundant milky-whitish secretion, unpleasant acidic odor (the smell of rotten fish).

Fourth group of vaginal secretions

The fourth group of vaginal secretions (IV) involves the presence of gonococci. Gonococcal infection most commonly affects the cylindrical endocervical epithelium and is manifested by purulent secretion from the cervix, while the squamous-epithelial vaginal epithelium of women in the reproductive period is relatively resistant to gonococcus. Due to the presence of sufficient estrogen, this epithelium is thicker compared to the epithelium of menopausal girls or women, which is why gonococcal infection is rarely manifested in the reproductive period. This means that it very often remains unrecognized, and as such is a significant factor in the emergence of sterility. In these situations, the infection spreads from the cervical canal to the endometrium and fallopian tubes.

Fifth group of vaginal secretions

The fifth group (V) of vaginal secretion is characterized by the presence of the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. The secret is copious, sparkling, green-yellow. Symptoms are also expressed in the form of burning and itching.

Sixth vaginal secretion group

Group Six (VI) refers to the presence of a fungal infection caused by Candida albicans. It is manifested by itching, redness, whitish adherent ("glued") secretion in the form of a scar. The sixth group of vaginal secretions occurs most often due to the decline of immunity and the use of antibiotics. Of the pathological groups, it is the most common, but thankfully the least risky.
