Expert ultrasound during pregnancy
Expert ultrasound is a detailed examination of all organs and structures of the fetus during the second trimester of pregnancy, preferably between 20-24 weeks.
The examination is completely painless and takes about 30 minutes.
In early pregnancy, an expert ultrasound can be performed at 12 weeks of pregnancy.
In the third trimester, expert ultrasound is performed between 31 and 35 weeks of pregnancy.
Ultrasound examinations are the gold standard in monitoring the development of the baby.
Expert ultrasound in the 20th week (anatomical ultrasound)
- The second routine ultrasound examination and provides an insight into the physical development of the baby. It is not mandatory but it is recommended to do it.
- Allows a detailed examination of the anatomy of the fetus. The high quality of the ultrasound image helps to detect a number of physical defects such as anacephaly, spina bifida, cleft lip, serious cardiac abnormalities.
- For most parents, this examination brings joy, because they can clearly see the baby, which is now fully formed, but also finally find out its gender.
- Ultrasound is not harmful to the baby, but it is not recommended to do it more often than recommended.
- If the baby has not adjusted well, it may be necessary to schedule another, repeated ultrasound.
